A Fool’s Game

A fool laughs 

at the sound of fear 

and bellows of

blind masses. 

Don’t you dare!

What’s wrong with you?

What will everyone say?

The roaring crowd turns up the heat, 

the adventure grows exciting 

to prove the doubt they clutch onto

was conquered long ago. 

The fool looks up and out to see 

a wink of an eagle’s eye 

a sidekick soaring

way up high

to see the bigger picture

shares subtle clues with the fool

who’s poised and ready to follow 

As for the blind who toe the line, 

when they hear the fool’s

shackles breaking, 

they’ll be left to ponder and wonder

of the madness of their own.
